From Cannes to Nice: on the Côte d'Azur even winter is joie de vivre
In Grasse for its perfumes, in Mandelieu for the mimosa festival
Grasse has perfumery (already a Unesco heritage site) as its emblem as a tourist destination. And two stops are a must: the Musée International de la Parfumerie and the Parfumerie Fragonard, with free entry to the exhibition space (there is a charge for visiting the factory) and a shop with the maison's products. To immerse oneself in the history of perfume, new this year are "Perfumed Paths", offering creative workshops, guided tours, meetings with growers and perfumers focusing on distillation and olfactory creation. About half an hour's drive from Grasse, between the Tanneron hills and the sea, lies Mandelieu de la Napoule, an elegant town known for its castle, the botanical trails of the San Peyre Natural Park and (above all) for being the capital of Mimosa. The festival dedicated to this plant (this is the 95th edition) is scheduled from 11 to 15 February and will have as its theme the 'Carnival of Carnivals', with a parade of floats and representations of the world's great carnivals, as well as workshops, guided visits to greenhouses and arboretums, and gastronomic festivals that will enliven the calendar of events until the beginning of March.
