All fired by President Trump
Paul K. Martin - USAID Agency Inspector General
Paul K. Martin, USAID Inspector General, was removed on 11 February 2025. The decision came a day after the publication of a report by him denouncing huge risks related to the freezing of $8.2 billion in humanitarian funds. Martin warned that millions of dollars of food aid were rotting in warehouses, with serious consequences for global food security. His removal was communicated by email without the notice required by law. NGOs and aid organisations denounced the seriousness of the decision, pointing out that it affects not only domestic transparency but also the international credibility of the United States. Congress expressed outrage, with some moderate Republicans joining Democrats in demanding an explanation. An interim replacement close to Trump was appointed in his place. Martin said he would defend his reputation and threatened legal recourse.
