The Teramo area of Abruzzo: unspoilt nature, tales of hospitality and fine food
Local cuisine with a contemporary twist
To round off this experience, the estate is home to the Zunica 1880 restaurant, led by chef Gianni Dezio and overlooking the park, transforms the bounty of the vegetable garden and the family farm into signature dishes, offering cuisine deeply rooted in the Abruzzo region but interpreted with a contemporary twist. Daniele Zunica now represents the fourth generation of a culinary tradition deeply rooted in the region. With 145 years of culinary history, and listed in the Michelin Guide since 1957, the family has built a reputation over the years based on Abruzzese cuisine, but it was in 2025 that a turning point occurred: the 2016 earthquake had severely damaged Civitella del Tronto and the buildings adjoining the family’s stately home, rendering it uninhabitable. At that point, the collaboration – which had already begun in 2024 with the Di Serafino family and Villa Corallo for catering services – evolved into a full-scale joint venture, with the restaurant relocating to the mansion itself.
