The new Borghi di Ponente ready for debut
The charm of the other Ponente villages
If you arrive in western Liguria and have a few days at your disposal, you can rediscover the history and traditions of other, better-known seaside villages. For example, you can stroll for a few hours among the narrow carrugi of the ancient maritime republic of Noli, on the coast between Varigotti and Spotorno, then admire the panorama from the castle of Monte Ursino, or go trekking along the Sentiero del Pellegrino, a scenic itinerary linking Noli and Varigotti. The route, about 6 km long and suitable for everyone, develops among the Mediterranean maquis and the white cliffs of the coast, offering breathtaking views of the sea. A visit to the village of Varigotti with its colourful Saracen houses is a must. Moving on between Alassio and Andora is Laigueglia, another fishing village, which offers fifteen or so paths immersed in greenery for walks and excursions with incomparable views. During the summer, the coastal and inland Ligurian villages come alive with events, festivals and fairs, inviting you to discover the beauty of the area
