The best-selling motorbikes and scooters in 2025
The Italian two-wheeler market, numbers and trends
The motorised two-wheeler sector (mopeds, scooters and motorbikes) closed 2025 with a drop of 7.5% compared to 2024. The market went at two speeds, with scooters growing (+5.5%) and motorbikes contracting sharply (-19.2%), penalised by the introduction of the Euro 5+ standard, which created a surplus of end-of-series registrations at the end of 2024. It is no coincidence that the comparison with 2023 - a year without distorting effects - returns an overall positive balance of +2.2%, with scooters making strong progress (+13.53%) but motorbikes still in negative territory (-7.5%). The success of scooters with 197,043 registrations in 2025 (against 134,480 motorbikes registered) is a clear indication of how they are an optimal solution to the city traffic problem. There is nothing new in the sales rankings: the BMW Gs and Honda Sh remain the absolute rulers, as has been the case for years now; 125 scooters dominate the rankings, thanks both to their drivability with a B licence and to the new regulations allowing them to enter ring roads, motorways and motorways. Let's see who occupies the top positions in the two rankings, starting with scooters.
