Only three hours by hydrofoil from Tokyo, there is a volcanic island covering an area of only 3.6 square kilometres with a population of around 500. It is called Shikinejima and is a tiny gem of the Izu archipelago, shrouded in secluded bays, blue beaches and caves, rugged cliffs and rocky thermal pools. It is so undeveloped that it has few roads and only one traffic light. Thus, free of traffic, it is perfect for exploring on foot or by bicycle. There are 160 km separating the island from Japan's capital. A journey that allows you to get away from the daily grind and find peace and inner balance.
