Cala Gadir and the turquoise sea loved by Giorgio Armani

Walks along the Punta Spadillo trail

The world's best-known clothing designer often invited his closest friends to accompany him along the wilder paths, particularly the coastal paths that wind around the white Punta Spadillo lighthouse. Certainly, Armani was familiar with the Geo-naturalistic Museum built by recovering the ruins of one of the many military structures used during World War II, where the National Park Authority's visitor centre is now located. But above all, he was delighted by the panorama that one enjoys as one travels along these narrow roads carved out of the tangle of lava: from them, one can gain access to small, spectacular, ball-shaped inlets that follow one another along Pantelleria's south-western coastline, with the possibility of even reaching Cala Cottone and the Laghetto delle Ondine, while local guides know how to locate drinking water wells hidden in the meanders of the terrain.
