Art, theatre and experiences: Rome is always a discovery
Tour among beech and chestnut trees around Lake Nemi
It is still foliage time around the capital. Leaving De la Ville and following the stretch of the Archaeological Park of the Appia Antica, past the Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella, to take the Via dei Laghi, you can reach Nemi or Genzano to walk along the ring, about ten kilometres long: it allows you to walk around the perimeter of this basin of volcanic origin in which Roman ships were found, the remains of which can be found in the museum dedicated to them in the village of Nemi. This ring also joins the Via Sacra, the stretch of lava stone paving of Latin origin that connected the time of Diana to the one dedicated to the cult of Jupiter Latium on Monte Cavo: the latter itinerary, although short, proves to be very exciting due to the presence of majestic and ancient beech trees, slender chestnut trees, myrtle bushes and strawberry trees, until we reach the highest point, that Maschio delle Faete that stands on the most panoramic point of the caldera of Hannibal's Fields. Then we refresh ourselves at the Polentone, a rustic and authentic local gastronomic institution where polenta poured on wooden chopping boards filled with vegetables can be enjoyed.
