Atmospheres and film memorabilia at the Hotel de la Ville

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

If its majestic façade is reminiscent of the Hermitage, its Cielo rooftop terrace offers a one-to-one view of all the roofs, domes and hills of Rome, making them so close you feel you can touch them with your finger. The Hotel Rocco Forte De La Ville perched almost on the most scenic tip of Via Sistina is increasingly the exclusive home of cinema: the black and white films of neo-realism fill the windows, seats from the film Young Pope, the cardboard model of the Bocca della Verità used for La Dolce Vita, together with other memorabilia and vintage posters accompany you along the corridors with their red carpets and doors like travelling trunks: after all, the atmosphere of the 19th-century Grand Tour effigies the walls of the halls leading to the Mosaic restaurant in the cool green tones of a Winter Garden. It so happens that the film stars of yesterday and today materialise in earnest and, therefore, to dine at Café Ginori among the coloured porcelain and soft sofas in pastel pantones, next to the Divina, Monica Bellucci's nickname, and her daughter Deva Cassel.
