Cycle tourism, five routes to discover rural places
by Enrico Netti
Hot weather permitting, now is the time for cycling, a sport that can be soft but also adrenalin-pumping when tackling descents and dirt roads. The bike can almost always be rented on site, then the fun is assured, but nothing should be left to improvisation because every itinerary can reserve satisfaction, fun, but also the unexpected. First of all, you need to be in good physical condition and be in possession of the basics to be able to cope with a breakdown, an unforeseen bike mechanic. You must also study the route, know the times and difficulties. The many sites for cycle-tourists that allow you to download GPX tracks, and specialised apps with offline maps and points of interest to get your bearings, come to your aid. As equipment in your rucksack, it is best to have water, fruit and vegetables, a powerbank, a Swiss collar and perhaps a guidebook of the area prepared by local tourist offices or a traditional map
