Sardinia. San Teodoro
Sardinia. San Teodoro
Of all the routes seen above, the one that reaches Capo Coda Cavallo starting from San Teodoro is the most challenging and requires excellent physical fitness as well as a mountain bike in perfect condition. The municipality of Gallura has become a hub for two-wheel enthusiasts and this area offers dozens of routes and tracks for all levels of experience: from the most pleasant ones to discover the coast to those on white roads that require significantly higher skills. Among other things, in San Teodoro there are several companies that rent bikes and e-bikes to facilitate those who cannot bring their own, and there is no shortage of local guides. Departing from San Teodoro, one largely follows paths, dirt tracks and unpaved stretches, some barely recognisable, towards Monte Nieddu and the Vedetta di Punta Pala di Monti at an altitude of 615 metres. From here you can admire the coast, the San Teodoro area, the long sandy shore of La Cinta and the large lagoon behind it, Capo Coda Cavallo, which juts out over the islands of Tavolara and Molara. In the distance, the profile of Capo Figari can also be admired, while behind it, towards the hinterland, is a succession of hills and valleys. Alternatively, it is possible to reach Capo Coda Cavallo by following another itinerary that is less demanding and without major differences in altitude, but passing through the Sardinian maquis bushes, crossing the abandoned nuraghe, and admiring the views of the Tavolara and Punta Coda Cavallo Protected Marine Area rich in protected flora and fauna.
