Veneto. Euganean Hills

Abano Terme is an excellent starting point for many cycling routes leading to the Euganean Hills. After a day among vineyards, hills and ancient villages, you can relax and rejuvenate in the town's thermal waters. Among the possible routes is the Anello ciclabile dei Colli Euganei (Euganean Hills cycle route) (E2), within everyone's reach because it is almost always flat and with a route on paved cycle paths except for a few stretches of dirt road. Overall, it is within everyone's reach. It is 64 kilometres long, at a leisurely pace can be covered in at least 5 hours, and touches the entire perimeter of the Euganean Hills Regional Park, offering an accessible journey of remarkable scenic beauty. Starting from Abano, the route touches Montegrotto, Monselice and other municipalities until reaching the Benedictine abbey of Praglia, which is well worth a visit. Other obligatory stops include the Villa dei Vescovi in Luvigliano di Torreglia, an example of Renaissance architecture, the monastery of San Daniele, an excellent spot to admire the panorama, and the Sanctuary of Monteortone, known for its historic curative water spring.

Another route, this time less demanding and suitable for beginners, is the First Ring of Sanctuaries, which is about 25 kilometres long with only three climbs. There is a very steep and uneven section of about 100 metres on the ascent to the Capitello di Tramonte Alto, which many cyclists will prefer to ride on foot. Because of the variable terrain, with unpaved sections, it is best to use a good city bike or mountain bike.
