Panoramas, foliage and nature: Autumn experiences in the Alps
Belluno Dolomites: slow mountain among refuges, lakes and the Middle Ages
In the land of the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, slow and sustainable tourism can be practised, and autumn is the ideal season to enjoy the experiences offered by the Belluno mountains, including hikes, bicycle routes and art treasures. There are more than 200 kilometres of marked trails in this district, including relaxing walks, via ferrate, forest roads and high altitude traverses, and if the most famous itinerary is undoubtedly the Tre Cime tour, there is no shortage of valid alternatives. From Misurina, for example, you can reach Malga Maraia to enjoy the splendid view of the Marmarole chain, while from Auronzo (in the locality of Taiarezze) you can take the cable car to the Rifugio Monte Agudo and then continue towards the plateau of Pian dei Buoi, at an altitude of about 1,750 metres. Another scenic walk at altitude, above 2,000 metres, is the one that connects the Col de Varda Refuge to the Città di Carpi Refuge, from which one can admire the peaks of Sorapìss and Cristallo and the Tofane. For those who love to experience the mountains on two wheels, there is no shortage of routes for racing bikes, e-bikes and mountain bikes suitable for all types of training. Two are not to be missed: the Tre Cime cycle path, which connects Lake Auronzo with Lake Misurina along a 30 km route through the woods and clearings of Pra Longo, Somadida and Valbona, and the 7 km loop, starting from the Col De Varda ski lifts, which skirts Lake Misurina and Lake Antorno. As for history and art, on the other hand, the experiences to be planned touch on the centre of Auronzo to discover the original architecture of the wooden and stone houses, the surroundings of Vigo di Cadore for its three small churches (the Pievanale di San Martino, the Cappella di Sant'Orsola or "degli Scrovegni" chapel and Santa Margherita in Salagona) from the mediaeval period, and Lozzo di Cadore, "the village of mills", where you can deepen your knowledge of local traditions by walking among the installations of the Museo Ladino Diffuso.
