An additional one per cent Preu tax on slot machines and VLTs, and three-year extensions to licences for gaming machines, betting and bingo – though these will be much more costly: these are the two measures on which much of the ‘contribution’ of over 900 million per year rests, which the Government is demanding from the gaming sector as part of the budget for the three-year period 2027–2029. A package of measures included in the new Budget Law, which goes beyond the 718 million euros requested from the gaming sector as set out in the Budget Policy Document sent to Brussels and to Parliament. The contribution rises to almost one billion. The extensions to concessions also include the scratchcard concession.
