Spring experiences in the Terra del Roero between nature and urban wineries
Hotel and Cantine Ascheri: wine emotions
Winery, hotel with wellness area and osteria: the Ascheri family welcomes its guests to Bra in Via Piumati, a stone's throw from the railway station, in an island designed to be open to all and that recalls the history of the city and the nearby hillside vineyards in various ways. The hotel, which is located on the upper floor of the winery, is a 4-star structure in an 'industrial' and minimalist style that has been in operation since 2005, with comfortable, finely furnished rooms and large communal areas where one can enjoy the pleasure of a good read or a game of chess while sipping a glass of wine or vermouth. The Spa Gallery, opened in 2022, also offers regenerating experiences for mind and body for those not staying at the hotel. A visit to the wine cellar, on the other hand, is a short journey to discover the secrets of Ascheri production (since 1880 moved to its current location in Bra, where, among other things, the first Barolo sold in bottles with the 'Cannubi 1752' label was born) and some of its historic labels, as well as an opportunity to see up close the prized barriques sold at the Barolo en Primeur charity auction. At the end of the itinerary, one goes up to the shop area to taste and purchase the whites (Gavi and Arneis), the classic method and the reds (from Barbera to Nebiolo, from Syrah to Barolo) produced from the estate's vines distributed among the hills around the city and the Langhe, in La Morra and Serralunga d'Alba. Finally, at the Osteria Murivecchi, one dines on old wooden tables with typical dishes in an informal and familiar atmosphere, under the 150-year-old vaults that once protected the Barolo ageing cellars: a perfect complement to a structure conceived to be a unicum of hospitality in the sign of Piedmont's noblest wine.
