From Gothenburg to Fjällbacka, through islands and lakes, and to the settings of ‘Nordic Noir’
How to get around your destination
The ideal starting point for this trip is Gothenburg, a destination easily accessible from Italy. Between March and October, direct flights are available from Rome and Milan airports, whilst during the rest of the year, or if travelling from other cities, you can opt for a flight to Stockholm or Copenhagen, then continue on to Gothenburg by train – a journey of just over three hours. Once you arrive at your destination, the region is particularly easy to explore: the local public transport network, efficiently run by trains, buses and ferries, allows you to reach most places of interest without the need for a private car. For those who prefer complete independence, hiring a car or cycling offers the freedom to lose yourself amongst the coastal villages and inland forests.
