The settings chosen by Camilla Läckberg, Ann Rosman and Åke Edwardson

Fjällbacka, an old fishing village in Bohuslän, is world-famous as the setting for Camilla Läckberg’s crime novels. The harbour, the pastel-coloured houses and the imposing rock face of Mount Vetteberget form the real-life backdrop against which the characters in her stories move.

As they stroll along the cobbled streets, visitors can take part in guided tours focusing on literature and cinema, passing through evocative locations such as Kungsklyftan, the deep crevice in the rock overhung by enormous boulders. Western Sweden is a source of inspiration for several prominent authors; amongst them, the island of Marstrand provides the backdrop for Ann Rosman’s novels, whilst Gothenburg is the setting for Åke Edwardson’s famous series featuring Inspector Erik Winter. Fjällbacka is also the gateway to the Väderöarna islands, the country’s westernmost outpost, once inhabited by lighthouse keepers and now a destination for boat trips to discover the colonies of seals that inhabit the outer cliffs.
