4 things to do in the Aosta Valley

In Aosta: crafts and music at the Forte di Bard

A major event is taking place on 1 August in the historic centre of Aosta for the Foire d’Été, the historic Aosta Valley craft fair which attracts around 400 exhibitors. Wood, stone, wrought iron, leather, textiles and traditional artefacts showcase the craftsmanship of the Alpine valleys, alongside more contemporary creations. In the evening, music takes centre stage at the Aosta Classica festival, which on 1 August will see Raf perform at the Forte di Bard as part of his Infinito Tour. August will also feature other events as part of ‘Da Aosta ai 4mila’, the festival that brings music to the most spectacular Alpine landscapes: on 4 August, I Nomadi will be in Cogne; on 5 August, Francesca Michielin will perform in the picturesque Sant’Anna valley, in Gressoney-La-Trinité. Also not to be missed is one of the season’s most original events, Mo’delaine, the Wool Festival scheduled for 29 and 30 August in Valgrisenche, organised by the cooperative which, for almost sixty years, has been the guardian of the ancient drap weaving tradition of Valgrisenche. An event that celebrates the wool industry and reminds us that behind every fabric lie time, patience and tradition.
