In Quargnento among fields as far as the eye can see

Quargnento is an absolutely unmissable stop for those who want to get to know (and buy) lavender: here, in fact, is the field as far as the eye can see of the Lavanda del Cascinotto company, which is part of the Centro Italiano di Formazione Cultura Ricerca e Produzione Lavanda.It can be reached by taking the road that departs to the left from the entrance to the Lu-Cuccaro internal road, towards Quargnento, and crossing fields of wheat and hazelnut groves, as far as the unmistakable expanse of purple that is also presided over by a gazebo selling lavender-derived products, such as essential oils and aromatic laundry bags. Here, the lavender is transformed into essential oils, with steam current extraction, and partly dried, gathered in bunches to then be manually shelled and enclosed in bags handcrafted with refined fabrics to better enhance the scent. Worth seeing in the city is the Minor Basilica of San Dalmazio, the only basilica in the diocese of Alexandria, which houses beautiful frescoes by the painter Vincenzo Boniforti.
