Jeffrey A. Kruse, Director Defense Intelligence Agency

Date of dismissal: 22 August 2025. Kruse, a Lieutenant General in the Air Force, was the head of Dia, the Pentagon's intelligence agency, with a track record built up in military intelligence and analysis facilities supporting top strategic leadership. The dismissal came without official public reason, shortly after the release of a preliminary Dia assessment that the US raids on 22 June against Iranian nuclear sites had delayed Tehran's programme by only a few months, contradicting the White House narrative of 'total annihilation' of targets. It is one of the cases where the suspicion of politicisation of intelligence has been most explicit in the eyes of international analysts and commentators.
