Oberholz and the image of the felled tree

The journey continues towards the Val d’Ega, where the Oberholz in Obereggen stands at 2,096 metres. Designed by architects Peter Pichler and Pavol Mikolajcak, the building resembles a felled tree, its three curved naves – crafted from local fir and larch – cantilevering out like branches pointing towards the peaks of the Latemar. Inside, cosy alcoves and large windows create an interplay between natural continuity and organic architecture, complemented by a kitchen that reinterprets Tyrolean recipes with clean, modern flair.
