Rifugio Oberholz, gourmet lunches and late-night aperitifs under the Latemar

From its panoramic windows, you cannot see the cross-country skiing and ski jumping competitions taking place in the nearby Val di Fiemme, but the Oberholz Refuge is definitely worth a detour. Located at an altitude of 2,096 metres at the arrival point of the chairlift of the same name that climbs from Obereggen in Val d'Ega and reachable on skis and board for those travelling in the Latemar Dolomites area (during the Olympic period, the Pampeago station is regularly open, while the Predazzo station will be closed), it is a place that is iconic at first glance. Opened in 2016, it offers a unique view of the Latemar massif, Corno Bianco and Corno Nero, pushing the view towards Ortles and the Alpine ridge between Switzerland and Austria. During the day, it is ideal for a gourmet lunch break with typical dishes (from mugo pine risotto with organic South Tyrolean noble mushrooms to rye bread pasta with game ragout and cranberries, to the ever-present kaiserschmarrn, the Emperor's sweet omelette), while at sunset it becomes the exclusive stage for the ApèrOberholz, the long aperitifs at high altitude under the stars, scheduled on selected dates (13 and 27 February, 13 and 27 March and 10 April) thanks to the extraordinary opening of the chairlift until 11pm.30.
