Copying at high school graduation constitutes an offence under an old law, Law 475 of 1925, which stipulates that copying during public examinations and competitions is punishable by imprisonment of up to one year. The crime is prosecutable ex officio: the teacher of a public or equivalent school who notices it is therefore obliged to report the fact to the authorities. The student who passes the test could also be punished as an accomplice.
