Slobodan Milošević
Milošević was President of Serbia from 1989 to 1997 and, as Wikipedia notes, President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from 1997 to 2000. He was one of the key political figures in the wars in the former Yugoslavia and was accused of crimes against humanity in connection with the ethnic cleansing operations carried out by the Yugoslav army in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo. His trial at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia came to an end in 2006 when Milošević died, before the verdict was delivered.
He had also been accused of ordering the assassination of Ivan Stambolić, his mentor in the 1980s and a potential rival in the 2000 presidential elections.
