Postcards from Vietnam amid young enthusiasm and ancient traditions
The French Ba Na Hills and the tropical Long Co
Certainly arousing mixed feelings is the Sun World Ba Na Hills, a kind of recreational architectural complex inspired by the villages and castles of the Loire so much so that it is called the French Village. However, its location in the Trường Sơn Mountains, and the means of getting there, namely its Guinness World Record-breaking cable car, so awe-inspiring that it affords crystal-clear views of the ocean, are certainly bizarre. And the Golden Bridge, the 150-metre-long bridge supported by two gigantic hands that hold the walkway in solid balance, also makes one's eyes pop. Undoubtedly, once you get to the centre of this medieval-style village, you can smile as you stroll through the square, enter a café, walk along the cobbled streets while the notes of well-known French songs drift through the air. When the crowds get too noisy, then it's time to head perhaps to the beautiful Lang Co beach nestled between the emerald waters of the South China Sea and the imposing peaks of the Bach Ma Mountains: ten kilometres long, it is surrounded by the tropical vegetation of the Thua Thien Hue province (you can stay in the fashionable stilts of the Vedana Lagoon Resort & Spa).
