Postcards from Vietnam amid young enthusiasm and ancient traditions
The pearl My Khe and the beaches on the Son Tra peninsula
It is precisely from this suspended silhouette, which becomes shimmering at nightfall thanks to an LED lighting system consisting of more than 3500 blue and red bulbs, that the journey can begin. Da Nang, located in the centre of Vietnam, in addition to the Dragon-headed Bridge, boasts beaches of sheer beauty, in particular My Khe and those on the Son Tra peninsula jutting into the Pacific Ocean, hemmed in by slopes carpeted in lush vegetation where one marvelled at the natural habitat and the presence of the langur duke, a primate possessing red legs and a face with white dishevelled hair similar to that of a wise old man. Also touching is the encounter with the culture of the Cham people as witnessed by the vestiges of their many temples dotted around Da Nang and the refinement of their artwork on display in the Cham Sculpture Museum, which houses the world's largest collection. This city is also popular for its street food to be savoured at the waterfront stalls, especially trying the mi quang, a dish of rice noodles, pork, prawns, quail eggs, peanuts and fresh herbs. An Bang Bay is also spectacular. It is also exciting to observe how life in Hoi An revolves around the flowing Thu Bon River, a liquid crossroads of trade among the wooden pagodas, while the endless strips of vegetables design green and fragrant geometries at the Tra Que Vegetable Village.
