Six new measures in the 2027 budget, from education to transport
Transport / Car tax: discount extended to vans too – refund for 47,000 households
Large families travelling in people carriers or vans will be able to claim a refund on their road tax even if their vehicle exceeds the 80 kW threshold. This measure complements the exemption for cars up to 80 kW, which the budget bill makes permanent. The budget bill introduces, from 2027, a grant equal to the tax paid, up to €385.71, for households with more than three children, at least one of whom is a minor. This applies to a single car approved for six to nine seats, running on petrol or diesel – including hybrid models – with a power output of up to 133 kW. The payment is made by INPS and does not count towards the ISEE calculation. The technical report estimates that 47,553 households will benefit. There is, however, one condition: those who receive the reimbursement lose their road tax exemption on the household’s other vehicles.
