2008 - Wedding with Carla Bruni

Only a few weeks after his divorce, Sarkozy is back in the spotlight again for his love life. The President's new flame is Carla Bruni, a former Italian-French supermodel and singer-songwriter. The two met in December 2007 and the relationship became public when photographers captured a visit by the couple to Disneyland Paris. In the following months, the two travelled together to Egypt and Jordan, all under the watchful eye of the world media. On 2 February 2008, after less than three months of dating, the two married in a private civil ceremony at the Elysée Palace in Paris. Carla Bruni, in a white dress, thus became Première Dame.
