Touring castles

No trip would be complete without exploring the pearls surrounding the city, the Agliè Castle and the Masino Castle. The former is an ancient Savoy residence, a triumph of elegance with over 300 rooms, Italian-style gardens, a frescoed ballroom and a centuries-old park. Having become famous to the general public as the set of the series 'Elisa di Rivombrosa', the castle tells seven centuries of history amidst frescoed salons and monumental greenhouses. Masino Castle, on the other hand, is perched on a hill overlooking the entire plain of Canavese. It is a thousand-year-old dwelling that was the residence of the Counts Valperga for centuries. Now a Fai property, it enchants visitors with its monumental rooms, rich library, unique collection of carriages and one of the largest hedge mazes in Europe.
