The 'Sistine Chapel' of Canavese
There is a treasure that many distracted visitors ignore: the Church of San Bernardino. Inside the complex built in the years between 1455 and 1465, which once housed the Franciscan convent, is one of the most important painting cycles of the Piedmontese Renaissance. The partition wall is entirely frescoed by Gian Martino Spanzotti with stories from the life and passion of Christ: twenty-two panels of dazzling beauty that are worth the trip alone.
