For many, Ivrea is a two-coloured image: the bright orange of the famous Battle that sets Carnival ablaze and the iron grey of the legendary Lettera 22 typewriters. On 1 July 2018, its important industrial history received the highest global recognition: inscription on the Unesco World Heritage List, but not simply as the former site of a factory, but as 'Ivrea, industrial city of the 20th century', a unique example in the world of integrated social and urban planning. However, when the scent of orange peels fades and the echo of Adriano Olivetti's industrial myth dies down, a different city emerges. It is an Ivrea made of lake waters, medieval stones and monastic silences, waiting to be discovered by a slower and more curious tourism.
