Trails, hiking and snowshoeing to experience nature in Olympic destinations
Around Lake Anterselva amid silence and legends
An easy loop of about four kilometres takes you along the banks of this famous body of water, the third largest in South Tyrol. We are in the heart of the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park, and the flat and well-marked trail offers the suspended atmosphere of snow-covered meadows and larch forests and the ice (on which you can also skate if conditions permit) covering the turquoise waters of the lake, which is marvellous to the eyes of the many visitors for its colours in fine weather. Along the way, several stations tell of Alpine flora and fauna, including rare carnivorous plants, and the popular legend linking the lake's birth to an ancient punishment. The pay car park from which to start the hike is at the Biathlon Centre where the Olympic competitions take place.
