Art and history, grape varieties and cycling: experiences to enjoy in the Prosecco region

In the heart of the north-east, in the province of Treviso, less than 100 kilometres from Venice, the area between Asolo, Monte Grappa and Montello reveals a side of Veneto made up of small towns, rolling countryside, art, history and a distinctive wine-growing tradition. These places are less well-known than the cities of art, the attractions of Lake Garda and the glamorous destinations of the Dolomites. They are places with a distinct identity, where there are wonderful little ‘treasures’ to discover, offering plenty of opportunities to immerse oneself in their roots and traditions. Within just a few kilometres, you’ll find medieval fortifications, significant historical monuments, museums linked to major figures in Italian art, First World War memorials, and cycle routes through the UNESCO-listed hills and along the River Piave. It is a region that is reflected in its wine culture – and in Prosecco DOCG in particular – but which also extends beyond wine and the convivial moments to be enjoyed in a winery or a trattoria.
