Art and history, grape varieties and cycling: experiences to enjoy in the Prosecco region

Wineries and wines from a terroir with a thousand faces

A stay in these parts is a unique and ‘unmissable’ opportunity not only to discover the world of Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG, but also to explore the great reds of Montello DOCG – one of the first areas in Italia where Bordeaux-origin grapes were trialled – as well as the Montello Asolo DOC wines, starting with the indigenous Recantina variety. Here, the wine is born from a terroir comprising diverse soils, ranging from the pebbly, limestone conglomerates of the Asolo hills to the clay soils of Montello, which are particularly well-suited to structured, long-lived reds. The flagship wine of the Asolo Montello Consortium (over 30 million bottles produced in 2025) is Prosecco Superiore DOCG, the smallest Prosecco appellation, which finds one of its most interesting expressions in the Extra Brut, a style first introduced by this very appellation. For enthusiasts of the genre, there is a veritable wealth of choice when it comes to wineries to visit and places to enjoy tastings featuring sparkling wine alongside local cheeses and cured meats. Among these is the Bresolin Bio farm in Maser, where vineyards and olive groves are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, completely eschewing chemical pesticides and focusing on the soil’s biodiversity. In Monfumo, meanwhile, Tenuta Amadio carries on a family tradition dating back to 1850, with grapes harvested by hand, vineyards surrounded by woods and olive groves, and a cellar carved out of the rock.
