In search of rejuvenating breaks: nature, sports and traditions
On the road along Calabria
To discover one of Italy's greenest regions, there is no better thing this season than to set out on one of its many nature trails. Among the most famous is the Kalabria Coast to Coast, an authentic adventure (55 km and 3 intermediate stages) that offers the thrill of passing from the Ionian Sea to the Tyrrhenian Sea at the narrowest point in Italia. A unique opportunity to enjoy the sunrise and sunset over the two seas: starting from Soverato (CZ), on the Costa degli Aranci, and arriving in Pizzo (VV), on the Costa degli Dei, passing through a rich hinterland. Nature and medieval history intertwine along the stages of the Norman Way, one of the most fascinating paths for lovers of southern history, passing through the Serre Regional Park and linking the Norman city of Mileto, seat of the court of the time, to that of Monasterace (141 km, divided into 8 stages of history, culture and spirituality). For archaeology lovers, there is instead the Cammino della Magna Grecia, a 'ring' circuit, which starts in Crotone and arrives back in the city after having covered 14 stages rich in archaeological attractions such as the National Archaeological Park of Capo Colonna, historical and naturalistic sites and linked to the emblematic figure of Pythagoras. If the Sentiero del Brigante (Brigand's Path), which links the Aspromonte National Park (RC) to the Serre Regional Park (VV) (140 km in 7 stages), retraces the history of brigandage in Calabria in the footsteps of the famous brigand Musolino, to the famous English writer and traveller of the Grand Tour, Edward Lear, is inspired by the Sentiero dell'Inglese (English Path), which crosses the Aspromonte National Park (7 stages and 110 km), stopping at ghost towns of suspended charm such as Pentedattilo (hamlet of Melito Porto Salvo, RC), set in the rock.
