In search of rejuvenating breaks: nature, sports and traditions
Regenerating lakes, woods and forests in Friuli-Venezia Giulia
In Friuli-Venezia Giulia, spring is an invitation to slow down and get in tune with a landscape where the common thread of the journey is slow movement. The network of itineraries that crosses Carnia, the Friulian Dolomites, the Julian Alps and the Gemona area accompanies you step by step through alpine stretches of water, pastures and woods where trekking becomes an immersive experience: destinations to consider are, for example, the panoramic ring around Lake Barcis or the routes around the lakes of Sauris and Olbe. Experiencing nature in a regenerating way is the motto that accompanies the forest bathing experiences that are widespread in various areas of the region, starting from the forests of the Natisone Valleys, where one of the first European forest therapy stations is located, to the Tarvisio Forest, one of the largest in all of Italia with its dense fir and larch forests. The other side of spring in Friuli-Venezia Giulia is that of the colours that mark the melting of the last snow on the mountain slopes of the Friulian Dolomites and Julian Pre-Alps Nature Parks, in whose meadows the blossoming of crocuses, primroses, gentians and hellebores are the perfect setting for guided excursions to discover the area's botanical wealth. On Saturday, 2 May, for example, an excursion is scheduled in the Val Alba Nature Reserve dedicated to the discovery of the flora of the beech forests and rocky environments, with an in-depth look at the conservation activities of the rare scarpetta della Madonna, while on 7 June, a guided tour is scheduled that will take hikers to the panoramic peak of Monte Cjavals and get to know the local flora up close.
