In search of rejuvenating breaks: nature, sports and traditions
From the breath of the Ahrntal Valley to the alpine pastures of Rio Pusteria
In South Tyrol, there is no shortage of destinations to experience the long days of spring, and among the lesser-known ones are the Valle Aurina and Rio Pusteria, two destinations that have in common values such as wellness, gentle mobility and the rediscovery of natural rhythms, to be discovered through outdoor activities, sensory experiences and sustainability. In the Aurina Valley, an area at an altitude of between 1,000 and 3,500 metres, the appointment not to be missed is with the proposals of the 'Aria Pura - Le settimane del respiro' (Pure Air - The Weeks of Breathing) programme, scheduled between May and June: yoga in the meadows, forest bathing, guided hikes and sessions in the Predoi Mine, where speleotherapy takes advantage of a particularly pure microclimate. Regenerative activities aside, the valley offers the suggestion of thawing in the alpine pastures, especially in the Casere area, while an ideal starting point for walks towards the Riva waterfalls is the Olm Nature Escape in Caminata di Tures, a futuristic structure immersed in greenery that interprets the stay in a wellness key between spa, yoga and cuisine linked to the territory. Just a few kilometres away, the holiday area of Rio Pusteria declines the same principles in an experiential key with "Malghe in Fiore", an event that from 16 May to 6 June will offer a calendar of initiatives including e-bike tours with tastings, panoramic excursions to the malghe of Rodengo and Luson, breakfasts at dawn in a refuge, forest bathing sessions and activities related to wild herbs. All supported by a certified model of sustainable tourism and tools such as the Brixen Südtirol Guest Pass, which encourages the use of public transport and widespread access to services.
