Taking to the skies to celebrate a ‘yes’

With couples getting married later and later and moving away from gender-segregated celebrations, traditional stag and hen parties are giving way to shared trips, ushering in an era of more inclusive celebrations. This is another of the trends identified for 2027 by Skyscanner, which specifically notes that around a third of travellers are avoiding splitting groups of friends according to traditional customs and instead preferring joint celebrations because they are perceived as more fun (in 32 per cent of cases), cheaper (in 25 per cent of cases) and much easier to organise (28 per cent). This shift towards group travel for shared celebrations is also having an impact on the travel industry and coincides with a 12 per cent year-on-year increase in searches for flights for groups of adults: the destinations worldwide that are seeing particularly strong growth are Frankfurt (+95 per cent year-on-year) and São Paulo (+93 per cent)
