Travelling in 2027: short breaks, more experiences and a focus on wellbeing
The up-and-coming destinations and the best value for money
The island of Sal, in Cape Verde – an idyllic African destination with white sandy beaches, turquoise waters and year-round sunshine – tops the list of the ten destinations selected by Skyscanner (the analysis covered searches for return flights carried out between 1 January and 17 June 2026, compared with those for the same period in 2025) which saw the greatest increase in search queries on the platform’s portal. It is followed by Bishkek, in Kyrgyzstan, and Mersa Matruh, in Egypt. The ranking of the most affordable destinations, on the other hand – which takes into account flight price trends combined with accommodation rates based on a OnePoll survey conducted in June amongst a sample of 1,000 Italian adults planning to go on holiday in 2027 – sees Lemnos, in Greece, ahead of well-known destinations such as Tallinn, Tangier, Bordeaux, Rhodes, Wrocław, Bilbao and Izmir.
