Travelling in 2027: short breaks, more experiences and a focus on wellbeing
Music and folk festivals in unusual venues
A concert may be the reason for setting off, but increasingly it is regional artists and the local musical culture that shape the choice of itinerary for a trip. Skyscanner’s Travel Trends Report 2027 reveals that traditional carnivals are considered among the favourite events by 41 per cent of Gen Z and 40 per cent of Millennials, whilst for 33 per cent of travellers, the venue of the show is an integral part of the experience: it’s better to have a concert in an unusual and unconventional venue such as a cave, a volcano, an amphitheatre or a natural stage (such as Riccione beach during the ‘Albe in Controluce’ festival held this summer) or a historic site, rather than a traditional stadium or arena. Travelling for music is also synonymous with a community celebration, a genre linked to the history of a community, or a venue that blends the musical experience with the landscape.
