Dario Amodei (Anthropic)

Among the most influential figures in the new generation of artificial intelligence, Dario Amodei is now the leading voice in the camp advocating a slowdown in the development of the most advanced models. A former vice-president of research at OpenAI, he left the company in 2021 to found Anthropic alongside his sister Daniela and other engineers, with the stated aim of building safer and more controllable systems.

In September, Amodei published the manifesto “We Must Pace the Frontier”, arguing that the industry should deliberately slow down the rate at which model capabilities are increasing. His proposal calls for independent auditors within companies, greater coordination between cutting-edge research laboratories and international cooperation. According to the manager, AI is advancing faster than humanity’s ability to understand and manage its risks.
