Ferrari Luce: 10 things you need to know to get to know all the secrets of the Maranello electric car
Ferrari Luce new e-Manettino
On the steering wheel, the traditional five-position Manettino and the three-position e-Manettino coexist. The former continues to govern driving dynamics, with adaptive logic that takes into account grip conditions through Side Slip Control X. The second defines power, torque curve, traction type and maximum performance. Three modes are provided. In Range the power is limited to 320 kW, operation is predominantly rear-wheel drive, the maximum speed is 260 kilometres per hour and dedicated strategies are adopted to maximise efficiency without compromising fluidity and dynamism. In Tour mode, power increases to 460 kW, all-wheel drive is always active and the top speed remains at 260 kilometres per hour. It is a mode designed for a more constant response to changes in residual energy. In Performance, the power output is 725 kW, all-wheel drive is permanent and the top speed is 310 kilometres per hour. The e-Manettino communicates with the Vehicle Control Unit, which coordinates powertrain and dynamics by updating the actuation targets 200 times per second. In range, the Vcu activates efficiency logics such as high-frequency traction alternation between left and right rear wheel, Inverter Standby and physical disconnection of the front axle when not needed. Consumption is reduced by around 15 per cent with the same smoothness of travel. In Performance comes into play the Power Deployment Control, which preemptively modulates power according to electrical and thermal stress on the battery, bringing sustainable power closer to peak power and keeping the response smooth even in repeated use. Steering wheel-mounted paddles complete the picture. The right increases the level of available power, the left adjusts engine braking and regeneration. The system does not simulate a gear change. Instead, it defines a torque language, building a progression managed by the driver. On corner entry the negative torque level can be chosen, on exit the power availability can be modulated according to grip and radius.
