Cultural Olympiad, must-see exhibitions dedicated to the mountains
From water to peaks: Alpine imagery at the Fabbrica del Vapore
In one of Milan's most dynamic cultural poles, the Winter Olympics offer a double appointment from 12 February to mid-April that focuses on Alpine territories. "A Visionary at Altitude" is the photographic exhibition by Stefano Zardini, an author from Ampezzo who has been investigating the relationship between man, snow and mountain imagery for years. The trilogy "The Pioneers Passion", "Snowland" and "Traces" is an immersive journey that alternates graphic interventions on historical archives, contemporary visions of alpine tourism and more intimate reflections on snow as a living surface, to be traversed and transformed. The exhibition also includes period material related to the 1956 Cortina Olympics. Instead, the Sala delle Colonne houses 'Water and Peaks. An Olympic Journey Through the Alps", a solo exhibition by Silvia De Bastiani in which painting becomes an immersive and almost scientific tool to narrate water and peaks, fundamental elements of the natural and symbolic balance of the territories hosting the Games, and invite visitors to observe the Alps as a complex, fragile and profoundly contemporary system.
