In Bellaria to admire the shells in the Saracen tower
Bellaria was Raffaella Carrà's hometown and the entire town shows a great passion for marine fossils. In its Saracen Tower, in fact, erected in 1673 by the Apostolic Chamber to defend the coast, is the Shell Museum, where you can admire these architectures that have been home to so many creatures: the Desideri collection was purchased by the Bellaria Town Council and reorganised by the Institute of Zoology of the University of Bologna so that you can learn more about molluscs, skeletons of marine organisms, madreporaria, echinoderms, crustaceans, and turtle shells. Their provenance is very varied, with some shells even arriving from the Indian Ocean.
