Between Rimini and Cesenatico ten adventures in the name of extravagance

8/11Weekend

In the piadina kiosks that made history

They look like a larger version of the bathing huts with their traditional red and green coloured vertical bands. The booth kiosks are unmistakable precisely because of their unusual structure. The original and typical street food of Romagna requires piadinas to be prepared on the spot almost everywhere, but it was precisely in Cervia, thanks to an intuition of engineers Giorgio Praderio and Walter Santi, that the kiosks took this form in the 1980s. It can be enjoyed at the Chiosco del Lago (Lake Kiosk) near the salt pans if you want to have a gastronomic experience in the sign of the azdore tradition. In Rimini, a good choice is the Piadineria Iris in Rivabella on the Viale Paolo Toscanelli seafront, a historic shop opened in 1957 by Signora Iris whose recipes have always been shrouded in mystery. In Riccione, the Piadineria da Romano boasts three decades of existence where you go still wet from a swim in the Adriatic. There are many fillings available, but crudo, rocket and squacquerone cheese beats all contemporary competitors.
