Between Rimini and Cesenatico ten adventures in the name of extravagance
The Giant's Garden of Cento environmental artwork
The welcome is given by a 33-metre lizard stretched out on the meadow, then one encounters a leaf measuring five metres by twelve metres rising towards the sky from which the blackbird has glided and is now resting on a small hill. And, again, to the delight of young and old alike, one comes across shooting stars, little fish, flowers and water lilies, dozens and dozens of birds that have escaped from their cages, signs and symbolism, fragments of fantastic architecture inspired by the natural world, in what can truly, as its creators put it, be understood as "a pressing sequence of shapes and images coloured by thousands of ceramic mosaic fragments". Over two hundred art academy students of fifty different nationalities, under the inspired guidance of artist Marco Pellizzola, gave life to the Giant's Garden in Cento over the course of six years of intense and successful commitment. In this environmental artwork, workshops are also held in which individual and collective creativity is tested.
