From Mladic to Milosevic: the key figures of the Balkan War have died

Ratko Mladic, one of the last war criminals to have become infamous following the war that broke out with the break-up of the former Yugoslavia and the independence movements that swept through the neighbouring Balkan countries in the early 1990s, has died. Among the most barbaric and notorious incidents, particular mention must be made of the Srebrenica massacre, the siege of Sarajevo and numerous instances of ethnic cleansing, most of which were carried out by the Serbian army and militias against the Bosniaks.
