Željko Ražnatović, Arkan

Arkan, whose real name was Željko Ražnatović, was a Serbian criminal, secret agent, politician and warlord. He is famous for his prominent role during the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990s. He founded the Serbian Volunteer Guard, a paramilitary unit known as the ‘Tigers’, which was responsible for crimes against humanity, including genocide and ethnic cleansing, in both Croatia and Bosnia. He was indicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, but was killed in Belgrade before he could be tried and sentenced.
