On the Way to Sky Observation with Astrotourism

You can explore the island not only along the paths, coastlines and seabed, but also by looking up at the sky. Precisely on the occasion of the Full Moon in July, there is a full programme of night excursions along Elba's paths to admire the stars in the company of local astrophiles. Between sky and nature, the experience combines the fascination of evening trekking with the discovery of the constellations, amidst evocative views and tales of the island's history, myths and traditions. Until October, guided night hikes start from the granite village of San Piero in Campo and cross the Piana di Castancoli, with evocative views of the south-west coast and Corsica. One walks among ancient quarries along the Vie del Granito, to the archaeological site of Sassi Ritti, overlooking the island of Montecristo.
