From Marina di Ravenna to Cattolica: the Riviera everyone likes in eight stages
Santarcangelo where Dance invades the territory
There is not only the sea on the Riviera Romagnola. Pennabilli, San Marino, San Leo, Montefiore, Mondaino, Verucchio, Montebello, Poggio Berni, Torriano, Sorrivoli, Longiano, San Mauro Pascoli and even Santarcangelo are small or very small villages behind the seaside resorts, rich in history, traditions and long-standing fame. Such as Santarcangelo, with its strong Romagna identity and the atmosphere of a large village marked by the right pace of life, for its architectural beauty made up of noble palaces, village houses, alleyways and small squares that have given it the title of City of Art, for the international events that enliven it no less than the village festivals full of fragrances and flavours. Thanks to its Santarcangelo Festival 56, one of the oldest and most prestigious Italian festivals of contemporary performing arts (since 1971), this Romagna village is known all over the world. During the next edition (3 - 12 July 2026) once again there will be performances spread across squares, streets, caves and unconventional spaces. The 2026 edition, entitled deep pressures, will transform the Romagna village with theatre, dance, music and installations. Born in 1971 from an idea of Piero Patino, the festival wanted to take theatre out of the canonical places, making it a collective and accessible fact, with the slogan "participate if you have courage". And today it is one of the most significant events in Europe for dance and research theatre, hosting international companies and new productions. Among the new additions is Casa Matta, at Palazzo Naiadi, opened at the end of 2025, located above the famous La Sangiovesa restaurant, it offers a well-kept environment with drawings by Fellini and Tonino Guerra, offering sideboard dishes, Tenuta Saiano cold cuts and artisan cheeses.
